Our Church’s Vision

SEEKING CHRIST

By the grace of God, we see a passion for seeking Christ evident in our daily lives. We envision Westport Baptist Church filled with Christians who love the Lord and seek Jesus Christ in all aspects of their lives. We picture our church with a variety of people engaged in worship, Bible study, and prayer, boldly proclaiming the Word of God.

We desire an inspiring worship service where the sanctuary is filled with people praising God through a blended worship style that appeals to people of all age groups.

We see a church that helps people identify and use their spiritual gifts. We envision trained individuals committed to leading and participating in a growing Sunday school program and small groups that meet for regular prayer and Bible study.

We see a church committed to prayer and spiritual growth. Our church is actively pursuing God’s will as we grow spiritually and apply what we learn. We see a church that believes every word of the Bible and seeks to have a growing relationship with Christ.

SHARING THE GOSPEL

By the grace of God, we see a passion for sharing the Gospel evident in our church. All members are well trained in evangelism and can engage in the defense of the faith. We desire to be light and salt in Decatur County and beyond – boldly proclaiming the Gospel as we teach God’s Word and share how He has saved us with the people we encounter.

We see Christ’s light shining through the ways in which we engage with people in our community. Our church actively demonstrates Christ’s love and accepts all people, regardless of their past. We picture a church with the seats filled with believers worshipping in Spirit and truth. Newcomers are welcomed, remembered, and followed up on in ways that encourage them to return and experience Christ. Young couples and singles are drawn to Christ and feel at home in this church family.

We see a mission minded church in which members are being equipped to pursue missions worldwide. Members look for mission opportunities and find ways to use their gifts and abilities to share the Gospel.  Our church supports local and world missions prayerfully, financially, and by being the hands and feet of Christ.

SERVING OTHERS

By the grace of God, we see a passion for serving others in our community and in our church family. We see Westport Baptist Church making a positive impact in our community. We envision a church that unconditionally loves and forgives as Christ does for us.

We see a church that offers effective ministries to both the community and church members that are inviting to all age groups. We see the love of Christ expressed in tangible ways in our community, not only by meeting needs, but by sharing with them their greatest need – Christ.

We envision a church membership actively involved in ministering to others in the body, edifying one another and seeking ways to be a blessing and encouragement to one another.
